Nebraska Orthodontics is not a “one size fits all” type of practice with cookie-cutter results Thus, we use 4 different types of braces and choose the one which is best for each individual treatment situation.
We are pleased to offer our patients passive self-ligating Damon System braces. Damon braces use a slide mechanism to hold the archwire, reducing the amount of pressure exerted on the teeth and allowing the teeth to move more freely, quickly, and comfortably. Thanks to these innovative new braces, achieving your perfect smile can be faster and easier than you ever thought possible!
Self-ligating braces use a specialized clip in place of elastics to help the archwire guide teeth into place. These clips help reduce the amount of pressure being placed on the tooth and may require fewer adjustments because there are no elastics to replace.
THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF SELF-LIGATING BRACKETS
- Passive Clip — Passive brackets creates less friction and allows teeth to move more freely. This is great at the start of treatment but makes fine-tuning your smile at the end of treatment more difficult.
- Active Clip — Active brackets have a clip that gently applies pressure, moving the tooth in the proper direction with a greater degree of precision and control. This creates more control for consistent, strong results.
Self-ligating braces are a great option for patients needing braces. Dr. Bronsen can help you determine what type of braces will be most effective for your smile. Please contact our practice to schedule your orthodontic consultation.
